Live Webcast of Every Good Endeavor

On Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 pm EST, Timothy Keller and Katherine Leary Alsdorf will appear at an event hosted by the Center for Faith & Work at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, entitled “Work: What is it Good For?”

Pulling from their recent book, Every Good Endeavor, Keller and Alsdorf will explore some of the foundational questions of humanity: What is the meaning of work? Why does work provide such delight & yet also such sorrow? What unique insights might Christianity offer to deepen our understanding of why we work?

The event will be simulcast LIVE and available for viewing afterward at faithandwork.org/webcast.

Encounters with Jesus Ebook Series

On December 4th, Dutton released the first essay in a new e-book series by renowned pastor and New York Times bestselling author Timothy Keller. The series, entitled ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS, will feature ten installments, launching with The Skeptical Student.

The series is based in part on a series of talks Keller gave in Oxford, England to a campus group – most of them skeptics – in 2012. During these talks, Keller explored the stories of life-changing encounters with Jesus in the Gospel of John. These stories have implications for those who are skeptical about Christianity themselves, and also for Christians who encounter skepticism from those who do not believe.

The titles will be released monthly starting in December 2012. Each will be available in ebook form for the low cost of $1.99.

The first five titles are:

The Skeptical Student
The Insider and the Outcast
The Grieving Sisters
The Wedding Party
The First Christian

NEW RESOURCE WEBSITE FOR CENTER CHURCH

Center Church, Timothy Keller’s long-awaited book on ministry in an urban context, is his first book written specifically for working pastors.

At nearly 400 pages in length, with discussion questions at the end of each chapter, the book is suited for pastors, church planters, seminary students, church leadership teams, and theologically trained lay leaders. It can function as a guidebook for ministry leaders to think through the implications of the gospel for their own context, helping them bridge the gap between doctrine and practice.

As Timothy Keller writes
, too often pastors “adopt ministry models wholesale,” replicating things like worship style or liturgical form “without recognizing the presuppositions, convictions and decisions that went into it.” This is a critical issue for Redeemer City to City, which was started by Rev. Keller and has helped start over 200 churches in 40 global cities with local pastors that work within the local culture and context.

We are excited to launch a new website to accompany the book, Center Church.com, where you can sign up to receive exclusive extras and resources to help your team work through the ideas in Center Church. A new group of resources, including a live video with Timothy Keller discussing the book with a group of pastors in New York City, will be posted each month starting in November 2012. The intention is that any church planting cohort, group of local pastors or leadership team can participate in this learning experience.

For more information on Center Church or other upcoming books for pastors, email info@redeemercitytocity.com .

Logos Bible Software Presents the Timothy Keller Sermon Archive

Since Timothy Keller founded Redeemer Presbyterian Church in 1989, he has preached over 1,200 sermons, all of which have only been available in audio format. This has made it difficult for pastors and laypersons alike to make full use of his biblical exposition in their own studies.

For the first time ever, Logos Bible Software is teaming up with Redeemer to begin transcribing over 20 years of Keller’s sermons to make them available on their multi-platform digital format. The Timothy Keller Sermon Archive will contain 1,233 sermons that are completely searchable, making them easily accessible for study and sermon preparation. With Logos Bible Software, you can read every sermon side-by-side with the text of the Bible and all Scripture passages will be linked to your preferred translation. Additionally, Logos is available for PC, Mac, iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, and Android, making the sermon archive accessible wherever you go.

Due to the scope of this project, Logos is putting the Timothy Keller Sermon Archive through its pre-publication program. For a limited time, users can pre-order the archive at a discounted price of only $199.95 — less than $0.20 per sermon. Once the cost of the project is covered, Logos will begin transcribing the sermons, releasing them in five increments. At the completion of the project, the discounted price will go up.

Visit their website to place your order and learn more about the project. Also check out their software offerings to learn more about how to take your Bible study to the next level.

New Materials Available for The Reason for God Group Study

Since The Reason for God Group Study was first published a year ago, it has won two awards and been used in a variety of creative ways, from public viewings to informal discussion groups.

Now there are two new how-to guides to help individuals and churches use these resources:

How to Use The Reason for God DVD Study With Christians

How to Use The Reason for God DVD Study With Non-Christians

The primary purpose of The Reason for God study materials is to help Christians learn how to have conversations about faith with their friends and neighbors. However, the study materials are also designed to enable Christians to apply what they’ve learned afterward—perhaps hosting a viewing of the DVD, launching a group for those considering Christianity at their local church, or just reorienting their approach to evangelism in ways that may extend well beyond a one-time small group experience.

If you are interested in using these materials in this way, we hope you will find these how-to guides helpful. You can also find both free guides on our Media page, under “Resources for Churches.”

The Reason for God Study Recognized With Two Awards

Recently The Reason for God group study has been recognized by the 2011 Christian Retailers Choice awards as their top Nontraditional Curriculum, and by Outreach Magazine as the best Small Group Curriculum in their 2011 Resources of the Year

Christian retailers across the country chose the winning products in the 11th annual Retailers Choice Awards, sponsored by Christian Retailing magazine. Among a record 350-plus nominations in 39 categories, 41 resources were voted as best of the year.

Outreach Magazine’s 8th annual Resources of the Year celebrates the best outreach-oriented books and other media produced in areas such as evangelism, church multiplication, compassionate service and cross-cultural ministries.  From 150 resources published between Nov. 1, 2009, and Oct. 31, 2010, twenty were selected as winners by a team of expert panelists.

The Reason for God study consists of a film of a live and unscripted discussion between Tim Keller and six panelists about their objections to Christianity, as well as a study guide and resources for Christians to learn about these objections and start their own groups.
